On Monday, May 12, 2025, the University of Garmian marked a significant milestone with a formal ceremony celebrating its registration in the Web of Science database, one of the world’s most recognized platforms for evaluating academic research.

The event took place at the College of Science, with the presence of Professor Dr. Arass F. Zainal, President of the University, members of the University Council, faculty members, and researchers.

The ceremony opened with a speech by Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed I. Khalil, Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Higher Education, who emphasized the importance of this achievement:

“The inclusion of our university in the international Web of Science database is a remarkable indicator of the quality of research produced by our academic community. This success is the result of the tireless efforts and dedication of our researchers and faculty members, despite ongoing financial challenges.”

Following this, the Director of the University’s Computer and Information Technology Center, presented a detailed overview of the university of Garmian’s data within the database. This included the number of research papers authored by university researchers and their indexing in platforms such as Scopus.

The Web of Science serves as a global benchmark for assessing the quality and impact of scientific research, and University of Garmian’s inclusion is a testament to its growing academic presence and commitment to excellence in research.
