University of Garmian’s IRO Meetings in Contributions to RISE Projects

2025-05-15

The RISE Project (Reinforcing Integration of Skills for Employability and Internationalisation) tackles some of the biggest challenges facing universities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). Its goal is to strengthen both institutions and students—helping Kurdish universities gain more international recognition while also preparing graduates for better career opportunities.

By boosting the skills and global outlook of young people, RISE aims to create a new generation of leaders who can contribute to both local and international communities. The project works closely with the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Higher Education, ensuring its approach aligns with ongoing reforms and has a lasting impact across the region.

A key part of RISE is helping universities improve their International Relations Offices (IROs) and Career Development Centres (CDCs)—two essential hubs for student success. By making these offices stronger, the project helps students gain global exposure while also connecting them to better job prospects.

Ultimately, RISE is about building a brighter future for Kurdish higher education—one where universities are more competitive, graduates are more employable, and the entire system supports long-term growth.

University of Garmian is an active partner of this project. The IRO FGs, including groups of administration, staff, and students members, have conducted the significant meetings from 20th of April up to 8th of May , 2025 to come out with the vital thematic debates to contribute mainly in attaining projects goals and ambitions.
