On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, a delegation from the Garmian Branch of the Kurdistan Religious Scholars Union (KRU) visited the University of Garmian and held a meeting with the President of the University, Professor Dr. Arass F. Zainal.

During the meeting, the delegation expressed their appreciation for the university’s scientific initiatives aimed at addressing key societal issues—particularly in the areas of drug awareness, environmental challenges, and broader community education. They praised the University of Garmian for its role in spreading awareness and building a culture of responsibility through scientific and academic engagement.

Additionally, the delegation proposed the establishment of a department for religious studies within the university. President Zainal welcomed the proposal and assured that it would be reviewed by a specialized scientific committee for further consideration.

At the end of the visit, the delegation presented an honorary award from the Kurdistan Religious Scholars Union – Garmian Branch to the President in recognition of the university’s efforts in promoting scientific development and social awareness.
